Covenant World Missions

Until the end of the 2006-2007 school year when Covenant Bible College closed, Baxter and Margie were teachers and counselors at the camputs in Ecuador.  (Click here for an article about the final graduation.)  Because they are veteran missionaries with extensive experience, they have been asked to co-direct missionary personnel for the Covenant Department of World Missions.

The Swensons relocated to Chicago to assume their new role, which started August 1, 2007.  They work with college and seminary students and second career adults to consider a call to mission ministry. They help provide pastoral care and crisis support for missionary families, and are available to speak in local Covenant churches about opportunities in mission service.  See the press release about their new position.

In a October, 2009 email, Margie said, "We depend on the prayers of our sisters and brothers as we seek to minister to missionaries around the world. The new task is massive but such a blessing. We are just back after a 2-week visit with missionaries in Japan and Thailand. We were at a retreat with all the Covenant missionaries working in Asia. It was awesome. Now we are trying to get our 'clocks' back in this time zone which is not very easy. God has given us energy and joy in the task!"

"We would love to visit you all to be able to thank the congregation for your many years of faithful support. Let's see when a visit might happen."
