What are we doing in Nicaragua? As we believe God has called us to be in a reciprocal relationship with the community of Ameya, we are continuing to build this relationship. Quite a few people from our congregation have been to Nicaragua and continue to build the relationship by various projects, such as starting construction on a medical clinic in Ameya and running a VBS type of program for the children of the town. We're grateful for the assistance provided by Covenant Merge Ministries, a Covenant organization that arranges mission trips for groups like ours going on mission all around the world.
The congregation has a strong heart for Ameya. They have participated in clothing drives, sports equipment shipments, etc. Many thanks to Jane Mirandette for getting these things to Ameya for FREE !!
YOU can contribute to the work in Ameya simply by buying things you normally buy. Purchase gift cards for several merchants, including grocery stores, in the narthex Sunday mornings for the face value of the gift card. When you do, a percentage of the sale will go to Ameya. It's easy and it doesn't cost you more than you would usually spend.
Please pray for this partnership. Specifically, pray that the hearts of the men in the village change so they are more involved in the church. If you have questions, contact

The purpose of the missions ministry is to help our church implement "Knowing Christ and Making Him Known" by supporting worldwide missions and encouraging our congregation to be involved in sending missionaries to the field, and in being sent.
We also manage prayer and financial support for our missionaries and communicate their work to the church. The Missions Team meets once a month, usually on a Monday evening, in the church office, from 7 to 9 p.m. We discuss how we can encourage a missions mindset in our church and brainstorm how we can support our current missionaries and pray for them. If you'd like to join us, call Greg Yancey, Steve Savig, Ann Everitt or Miriam Schoenig.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE OUR CHURCH
Perhaps your heart aches for the homeless. Or the developmentally challenged, or the hurting or the dying. Our church doesn't specifically have programs for all groups of people but can come alongside those who do. The body of Christ is much larger than our church and there are others who have thriving ministries in areas we lack. Rather than reinvent what they are doing, let's join them!
Click on "read more" to learn of other opportunities presented to our body.

The church supports several families that are serving in "the uttermost parts of the earth". We can't get much more specific than that with this public medium, as their visas are issued for the professional work they do because missionaries are not welcome.
Please pray for them, however. As we get them, we will add their photos as a reminder to do just that.

Covenant World Missions

Until the end of the 2006-2007 school year when Covenant Bible College closed, Baxter and Margie were teachers and counselors at the camputs in Ecuador. (Click here for an article about the final graduation.) Because they are veteran missionaries with extensive experience, they have been asked to co-direct missionary personnel for the Covenant Department of World Missions.

Our denomination, the Evangelical Covenant Church, spearheads two global missionary efforts.
Covenant World Missions (CWM) facilitates intercultural ministries around the world. They partner with churches and international believers to glorify God's name by bringing the whole gospel to the whole world. There are opportunities to be involved in many different areas - praying, giving and going.
CWM has an excellent guide for praying for missionaries. If you feel led, choose one of our missionaries and pray for them using this guide.
Covenant World Relief is "an effective, efficient, respected and flexible humanitarian aid ministry in Christ's name. For 60 years, Covenant World Relief has been equipping churches and communities to help victims of poverty, disease, hunger, war, disasters, and persecution." They were involved in relief efforts after the 2004 tsunami and the hurricanes that devasted the U.S. coast in 2005. Your gifts to Covenant World Relief can help in these efforts or will feed and equip the poor all over the world. For example, a donation of only $.07 buys a meal for a Ugandan child, $2.50 buys school supplies for a child in Congo, and $5.00 purchases a machete for a farmer. It costs so little to make such a big difference!
